My love for Photography

My love for photography began in the 3rd grade.

My class was going to the zoo in Stuttgart, Germany, and I was so excited to document my day. I asked my father if I could borrow his rangefinder camera. Instead, he dug an old Brownie camera out of a drawer.

That little Brownie became the beginning of a lifelong love affair with photography—and I have had a camera in my hand ever since.

My love for photography eventually led me to Montana State University, where I formally studied motion picture production and photography. After college, I spent six years working for a national portrait studio, where I had the opportunity to grow as a photographer and have my work published in their national catalog.

Eventually, I ventured out on my own and began building my own photography business.

But one of the most special chapters of my photography journey came when I had the opportunity to go into business with my daughter, Michelle.

Together, we created Donna Michelle Photography. What began as a business became a wonderful mother-daughter adventure. We learned from each other, encouraged each other, and spent years doing something we both loved.

Photography has given me a lifetime of memories—from that little Brownie camera in 3rd grade to a career, a business, and most importantly, the opportunity to create something alongside my daughter.

And that little Brownie still sits on my shelf.
